I am no expert on this at all, so keep that in mind. I personally have a wine fridge and keep my small stash in there.

One thing that you will want to make sure of is that you keep the bottle's tilted down to keep the cork's moist. If they dry out they will let in air, which will ruin the wine.

Now if you are only storing for short periods this doesn't really become a factor, but if you are looking to keep bottles for several years that is when you need to keep this in mind.

It does not take much to tilt it downward to keep the cork moist, but you will also want to rotate the bottles from time to time in case the entire cork is not covered.
